DRAMA

The Performing Arts is an essential component to becoming a well educated world citizens. When so many schools are being forced to end Arts programs Foundation Academy believes it is critical to education. Performing Arts programs are vital to the growth of the "whole child". Responsibility, leadership, teamwork, confidence, and self-awareness are just a few of the building blocks reinforced through an education in the Performing Arts. These same traits are incredibly important in college, career, and the progressive world around us.

We believe that Performing Arts is a vital tool in teaching a student how to analyze and evaluate themselves and the world around them while at the same time creating new diminutions in their thinking, learning, and personalities. It offers a quiet child scripted structure and technique to work from, while developing new skills and confidence. It offers a more out-going child an opportunity to be heard and seen within a realm that is safe to experiment. The most beneficial aspect of the Performing Arts is, it offers a child the opportunity to learn more about themselves, their talent, and their immeasurable potential. These life lessons will carry through to the child's academic learning, relationships and choice making.

Performing Arts is a creative way to learn, succeed and experience the satisfaction of an accomplishment. It takes strong commitment and hard work but the benefits of the accomplishment far outnumber the challenges that may occur along the way. These benefits are life-long and will help in the development of positive and creative members of society more equip with the tools necessary to succeed outside of the classroom. The Performing Arts are a true and on-going investment in our future.

Our Performing Arts Department produces six productions a year. Each production is designed to offer opportunity for students to grow and learn. Scripted subject matter is chosen and developed in relation to the same standards used in the academic classes by use of the essential skills and the school-wide essential question.
Performing Arts classes are available for all grades. Elementary students are involved in vocal music classes and dance classes and have a choice of one or more of the following: recorder, piano, guitar, and violin. All elementary students are involved in the spring elementary musical, in which they get hands on learning in the areas of music, dance & drama.

High school and Middle school students have the opportunity to be involved in the following areas of study: vocal music, acting, theatre technology, dance, guitar, band, piano. Students in music and dance classes perform in our two concerts (Christmas and Spring). Students in acting and theatre tech classes are involved in our two plays. Students studying dance, vocal music, acting and theatre tech are all involved in our final production of our spring musical.

Foundation Academy also invites community artists to perform at our Fine Artists Series performances. This is a chance for our young artist to experience a "master class" setting in a discipline of the Performing or Visual Arts.
