The Foundation Academy Literacy Program Details

The Foundation Academy Literacy Program includes a variety of innovative and engaging activities/processes together with the Lindamood-Bell tutoring program to reach all students on various levels. We have Lindamood-Bell certified teachers in charge of our program, and all of our tutors are dedicated to the development and improvement of our students.

 Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes was founded in 1986 by Nanci Bell, Patricia Lindamood, and Phyllis Lindamood.

The programs include: 

* Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing® (LIPS®) Program

*Visualizing & Verbalizing for Language Comprehension and Thinking® (V/V®)

*Seeing Stars®: Symbol Imagery for Phonemic Awareness, Sight Words, and Spelling

*On Cloud Nine® Math

Lindamood-Bell’s programs stimulate basic sensory functions related to learning and are recognized as being effective in the treatment of dyslexia, hyperlexia, autism, and learning
disabilities in general. The programs specifically develop:

* Study Skills
* Reading Comprehension 
*Reading  
* Critical Thinking
* Listening Comprehension
*Imagery
* Spelling
* Following Directions
*Writing
* Academic Performance
* Math

Our programs are designed with specific goals in mind for student learning processes. Because of this, the instruction that students receive in the specific program times has set standards and materials.

The program times are specifically for those students with learning difficulties in reading, writing, and math concepts.

All of the students requested for tutoring are assessed and placed in homogeneous groups during their tutoring sessions. These sessions are at the same time everyday (unless otherwise suggested by the tutor or the teacher in certain circumstances). The sessions are approximately 20 minutes for one to two students or forty-five minutes for any group larger than two students.

The lessons that the TFA literacy staff imparts to students are well organized, well researched, and productively assessed.
