7th & 8th MIDDLE SCHOOL
An essential aspect of The Foundation Academy is the Middle School
Program,
for students in grades 7-8. We want to empower each student to
build a strong academic foundation, and also develop the social
skills necessary to succeed in today's society.
No
student ever really wants to fail. At Foundation, we begin with
that premise, that our students do want to learn, and it is our
job to find the ways each student learns best. Young teens in
middle school are at one of the most challenging times in life, as
they try to determine just who they are, what they believe in, and
of what they are capable. Many students get "lost in the numbers"
and are adrift without an anchor. Not at Foundation Academy.
Our
Middle School teachers are able to offer personalized education to
each student. With a teacher-student ratio of 1:15, we are able to
assess each student's strengths and weaknesses, both academically
and socially. Teachers are able to differentiate according to
students' learning styles and abilities. This personalized
instruction has been highly successful with middle school
students.
Academic excellence is the expected by-product of small classes,
individual achievement, and high standards. Foundation Academy
students are expected to demonstrate their mastery of academic
skills, often in intriguing, creative ways. Students learn social
skills as well, as we collaborate, work in groups, and research
topics together. We offer project-based learning, helping each
student contribute and learn. In the future these students will
have the advantage of already being a team player and a
collaborative person, in a competitive world.
Foundation's Middle School Program focuses on "others-centered"
education, rather than "What's in it for me?" attitudes. Using
character education and being focused on the world around us, we
in turn reach out to the community. Middle School students
participate in the "City as a Classroom" opportunities. Students
have fed the hungry, as they collected and delivered canned foods,
have cleaned our community areas, and worked hard to raise funds
for underprivileged students to have school scholarships. In all
that we do, we focus on others, what's going on around us, who
needs something we can provide? We have seen amazing results, as
students are called to think of others, not just left to take what
they want, and forget the rest.
As
one can see, Foundation Academy's Middle School Program is a
successful, colorful, creative, even fun place to be! Our students
feel good about themselves, feel safe in this environment, and
feel personally cared for by teachers and staff. Our teachers
enjoy what they do, and enjoy watching students bloom in such a
nurturing, creative environment. Feel free to call the school
office (241-3515), to ask about a tour or conference for more
information.
