Guitar
The Foundation Academy offers beginning and intermediate guitar
classes. The Intermediate class is reserved mainly for high school
students. Our guitar classes concentrates on learning basic chord
structure used in all popular music, and developing skills needed
to play guitar in a group setting. No musical experience is
required to take these classes. Students attending the
intermediate class are required to perform at the Christmas and
spring concerts as a group. Placement in these classes is based on
ability the recommendation of the teacher.

  
Band
The Foundation Academy also offers a band class. The band consist
of guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, and drums. This class is
designed for the student to learn and gain experience playing and
performing in a group setting. The class also improves the
students' listening and communication skills through music. The
band also performs at the Christmas and spring concerts. This
class requires some musical experience so placement in the band is
left up to the teacher.

   
Djembe
The
Foundation Academy has just added a new drum class. This class
will be focusing on African drumming (hand drumming). The
Ability to read music is not required and will not be used. This
class focuses on listening and repeating what you hear.
Performances are in the Christmas, spring concert, and festivals. This class is offered to high school and middle
school students.

Piano
The piano class meets weekly in groups.
The Bastian method is taught. These students learn phrasing as
well as melody and harmony. Students are encouraged to practice
daily for 10 to 15 minutes as to develop good hand position and
good performance and practice posture. Students must have a
piano or keyboard at home to use.

Violin
The violin classes
currently consists of elementary students learning the Suzuki
method of violin technique. The students have one lesson a week
and are encouraged to practice everyday in front of their
parents or family member as to solidify their application of the
lesson. This method has proven a wonderful benefit to students'
memorization ability. Students provide their own instrument.
