understanding and application of curriculum at TFA. A rubric
is used for calculating a grade of mastery.
Student work is reflected on and then re-done, showing their
progress toward understanding what they have learned.
Portfolios are open ended, with accumulated student work from the
start of the school year(s).
Portfolios are presented before an evaluation team comprised of
teachers, students, parents, the principal and community members.
Portfolio work is used to demonstrate the level of understanding
and application of the 15 Essential Skills.
Portfolios reinforce the importance of clear communication.
Portfolios demonstrate continuous improvement.
Portfolios promote individual expression.
Portfolios teach students to speak publicly.
Portfolios reflect “real world” expectations.
