Pronounced Ash- Ling Ha-lee-na Miller McDonald
Aisling was born in Dublin, Ireland and immigrated to the United States with her family when she was 12 ½. She moved to Jacksonville to attend the University of North Florida to study Arts Education. She graduated with a B.A.E in 2005 and again in 2011 with a B.F.A. in Ceramics and Sculpture. She moved to Greenville, NC to attend E.C.U where she earned a M.F.A in 2014. Upon graduation, Aisling returned to Jacksonville. 2018-2019 marks Aisling’s 14 year teaching the Visual Arts. She has taught for Art with a Heart at Wolfson Children’s hospital, the Ponte Vedra Cultural Center, the Cathedral Arts Project, was the Lead Museum Educator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville, Instructor of Record at East Carolina University, and more. She is currently an Adjunct Professor at UNF teaching Drawing I, 2-D Design, and 3-D Design. Here at the Foundation Academy Aisling teaches ceramics to K-12th. Aisling is also a practicing artist in ceramics, mosaics, and large outdoor steel fabrication sculpture. Her work is in both public and private collections. Her outdoor sculpture is on display up and down the east coast of the United States and can be seen locally outside the Jax Chamber and in Atlantic Beach. When not creating art, Aisling enjoys spending time with her family; her husband John, a very rambunctious 2 ½ year old boy, Kieran, a very sweet 5 month old girl, Briana, Lana the dog and Millie the cat.
Fun Fact: In my younger days, I was an Irish Dancer.
