Community outreach is a part of life at The Foundation Academy and is an expectation for all students from kindergarten through senior year. In order to be a good citizen of a community, students must first know about their community. Service to the community both allows students to do what love demands and it also helps them empathize and know their community better.
Seniors are engaged in a yearly service learning project that addresses their concerns for Jacksonville…problems they see and how to solve them. Student partnerships have researched numerous issues over the years from homelessness to gun violence, from human trafficking to suicide awareness, domestic violence and the technology divide. Action plans involve working closely with organizations addressing issues stemming from systemic poverty: Mission House, Foster Closet, Hubbard House, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Florida Blood Alliance, local hotlines and churches. Awareness is spread through social media and volunteer events that foster healing in our community.
As seen in our school planner, one non-perishable item a week is expected for our regular food giveaways. Please help your student to remember their weekly donation.
