Before coming to teach at The Foundation Academy (TFA) fifteen years ago, I taught college English first at University of Florida while completing doctoral course work; then at Georgia State University while writing my dissertation on William Faulkner, and while my husband began practicing law in Atlanta. Missing Florida, where my husband and I grew up, we moved to Miami. There I worked at the Miami Art Museum and the Lowe Art Museum, doing research, developing curriculum, and training guides for student tours. That led to a position teaching Honors Humanities at Miami Dade College, Wolfson Campus, where I also served as one of several co-teachers from various disciplines for the Environmental Fellowship program. After only a short time at TFA, I realized that everything else I had done was preparation by the Lord for being at TFA.
Fun Fact: First I went to a small women’s college (Sweet Briar), then to a small previously men’s only university (Johns Hopkins), and finally for grad school to a large university (UF).
