Creative Photography/Social Media

This creative photography and social media class teaches students DSLR camera skills, lighting, composition, posing, and photography terminology, while integrating visual storytelling and marketing for real-world social media and school projects.

Photography:

In this class, students will learn and apply creative photography techniques, including camera operation, lighting, composition, posing, visual storytelling, and editing. Students will gain hands-on experience with DSLR cameras, practice setting up lighting and backdrops, and explore different types of photography such as portraits, landscapes, and sports. They will also develop essential skills in photography terminology, critique, and marketing integration.


Students are required to document school functions such as plays, festivals, and special events, and will play an active role in producing the school yearbook. Opportunities include collaborating with local photographers and participating in field trips to apply their skills in real-world settings.


Social Media: 

Students will learn video effects, editing, Canva, and Constant Contact. They will be responsible for producing videos and posts for the school social media, including planning, casting, filming, editing, and creating bi-weekly blasts. (An interview is required and attendance at some after-school events will be necessary).  


Essential Skills: Camera operation, lighting, composition, editing, visual storytelling, critique, and marketing integration.
